  • Southside Center for the Arts 1103 Glenn Street Opelika, AL, 36801 United States (map)

Folk - rock duet “Martha’s Troubles”

Martha's Trouble is Jen Slocumb and husband Rob Slocumb. Based in the Auburn-Opelika area, their music has had national exposure in the United States and Canada. She is the duo's lead singer and percussionist. He plays guitar and sings for the duo. Both write and arrange the songs they perform.

In addition to being a national touring act, Jen Slocumb and Rob Slocumb are active in their own community's music scene. They own and operate The Sound Wall, a studio and performance venue in a renovated historic home on Avenue B in Opelika. There, they capture and mix audio tracks for recording projects and present supper-club events and ticketed concerts by mostly touring artists. They recently started a jazz series.

Rob & Jen have also organized the first Opelika Songwriters Festival in 2019, and the next is planned for March 27-29, 2020. They also organize a monthly Songwriters Night at John Emerald Distillery that features local and regional songwriters.
