A Voice for Visual Arts
East Alabama Arts: Visual Voice started as a grassroots effort of local artsts interested in creating a welcoming environment of support and opportunity for the arts within our region. Together we are a voice for the visual arts community. Our goal is to strengthen and promote the artistic ecosystem of Eastern Alabama while encouraging the engagement of artists and art enthusiasts alike.
COMMUNITY VALUE
The Arts help shape and curate a sense of identity within a community impacting how we perceive and interpret culture. A community empowered by the arts will allow us all to grow, create, engage, celebrate, heal, tackle difficult conversations, help those find their inner voices, have access to classes and programs, and create art enthusiasts out of us all.
The Salon des Refusés
was held during 1863 in Paris, France. The exhibition began as a revolt against the Salon de Paris ́ after the jury rejected almost 3,000 out of 5,000 artworks. Artists like James Whistler, Edouard Manet, Paul Cezanne, Camille Pissaro, and 400 others joined forces to provide a way for new artistic styles to be broadly exhibited to the public.
The applications can be found on OAVisualVoice.myportfolio.com. Submissions are due November 11th by 11:59 pm.
The exhibition will run November 21st through December 8th at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center in Auburn, AL.
